∘ Dali Magrakvelidze ∘ INFLATION AND ITS MEASUREMENT METHODS – SITUATION IN GEORGIA Summary Inflation is inherently a negative event for the economy. Along with studying the causes of inflation, it is important to correctly choose the methods of calculating its rate. There are Laspeyres, Paasche and Fischer formulas for calculating the inflation index. When calculating inflation, in addition to the consumer price index, the following are also used: wholesale price index - monitors the price changes of goods before they reach retail, used by companies and governments to fix price guarantees in contracts; producer price index - monitors the selling prices of industrial and agricultural goods, as well as freight the cost of transport; Import/Export Price Index - measures the prices of goods imported and exported from abroad. |
