∘ Zurab Tsereteli ∘ PROBLEMS OF DEVELOPING THE NATIONAL INNOVATION SYSTEM AND INCREASINGITS COMPETITIVENESS Summary The national innovation system is the most important factor for achieving competitive advantages of innovative businesses and provides access to necessary resources, including financial issues, which are the most urgently needed in the implementation of innovative projects. Into article is discussed about functioning of the national innovation system, where the importance of innovation in the activities of modern enterprises is determined. It is also noted that one of the main directions of the state policy in the field of scientific, technical and innovative activities is the creation of innovative specialized entities (such as technological parks, technological business incubators, techno policies and high-tech companies) as well as the corresponding promotion of their functioning. It’s also shown some pitfalls for the development of innovations. In particular: 1) Underdeveloped connections between university’s scientific structures and industry; 2) Low involvement of the banking sector into crediting innovative processes; 3) Insufficient innovative activities of the private capital and others.
