∘ Salome Silagadze ∘ THE DYNAMICS OF GEORGIAN MIGRATION AND ASPECTS OF ITS ADVERSE EFFECTS Summary This paper explores the key patterns and trends of Georgian emigration and the negative impacts of migration. Since gaining independence migration has become a persistent feature of Georgia’s socioeconomic landscape, driven by political instability, economic hardship, and conflict. The study draws on recent data and international research to highlight the dynamics of Georgian migration, outflow of highly educated individuals—often referred to as “brain drain”—and its long term consequences on Georgia's labor market, innovation capacity and other aspects of possible economic development. The study concludes that due to migration possible labor shortages, productivity declines, and a slowdown in innovation development are possible future issues for Georgia and its economy. The work calls for expension of policies in order to reduce the mentioned challenges by enhancing diaspora engagement and supporting the return of skilled migrants.
